West London via Notting Hill to North London

Important Things to Know

  • To do the canal boat trip you need to time everything to make it to Little Venice by 2pm ready for a 2.30pm canal boat trip to Camden Markets. This is the last boat time accept on weekends were the last trip is 4.30pm.
  • Jason's Canal Boat runs from March to November so check website for times. We suggest booking your boat trip in advance but it needs to be done more than 24 hours prior to planned departure. 
  • The Jewish Museum closes 2pm on Fridays and the last entry is 4.30pm on Saturday to Thursday. If wanting to see this walk to the Jewish Museum first once arriving at Camden Lock.
  • Camden Markets are open 10am-6pm everyday.
  • There are some good bars/pubs/restaurants to enjoy in the evening in Camden Town.

Suggested Timetable

9am: Holland Park Station walk to kyoto Garden 9.20-9.30 Kyoto Garden 9.30-10am walk to Kensington Palace (Design Museum- opens 10am is an option) 10=10.45 Kensington Palace 10.45-11.15 walk to Portobello Road 11.15-1.45pm enjoy the stroll down Portobello Road....you may wish to visit the Museum of Brands and Packaging. 1.45pm Catch tube: Ladbroke Grove to Royal Oak. 2pm-3.30pm Jason's Boat...enjoy the canal ride between Little Venice and Camden Town. 3.30pm  Enjoy Camden Town. You may wish to walk back along the canal and experience the view from Primrose Hill over London. 

*** Doing this tour on the weekend (June to August) and being able to book Jason's Boat for 4.30pm from Little Venice allows you more time to visit both Design Museum, Kensington Palace and enjoy Portobello Road. Saturday the markets are very busy while Sunday there are no markets but less people. Going later would mean you wont be able to visit the Jewish Museum

  • Free Attractions include: Design Museum, Camden Market, Portobello Rd Market, Holland Park
  • London Pass gives you entry to Kensington Palace Gardens (£19.50), Museum of Brands,Packaging & Advertising ( Adult £9) Jason's Boat Trip (Adult £10) Jewish Museum (£8.50) this would represent value of £47. So good value for a 6-10 day pass as one of your days. A 3 day pass is of equal value.

If wanting to visit the Jewish Museum visit this first once arriving at Camden Lock as last entry is at 4.30 Sat-Thurs. You wont be able to do it on a Friday as it will already be closed or if catching later boat on a weekend.

Camden Markets are open until 6pm everyday.
