We have compiled a brief area guide of the popular tourist locations in London to help you decide where to look for accommodation. London has one of the best transport systems in the world so it will be easy to get around wherever you stay. The one factor you will need to consider is transport to and from airport if you have an early departure or late arrival time.

Brief Area Guide to popular locations:

Bayswater/Paddington: Great location with a strong travelling community, on door step of Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park as well as Notting Hill Market and easy transport access to other attractions.

Earls Court/Kensington: Good location with strong travelling community feel. Close to Hyde Park and the Natural History and Science Museums as well as Harrods. Easy access by Tube to Heathrow.

West End/Central London: Right in the action.

Kings Cross/Islington: Kings Cross can be a bit grey but nearby Angel is quite nice. Easy access to Standstead/Luton airports, financial district, Brick Lane and central London.

Victoria: Excellent transport to all airports with national bus station, tube and a 24 hour train service to Gatwick Airport. Good central location.

Richmond: Picturesque location on the Thames with central London 15-30 mins by Tube and overland trains. Easy access to Heathrow and nearby attractions include Kew Gardens, Twickenham stadium while Windsor is a direct train trip.

Hammersmith/Shepherds Bush: Good location with easy access to Heathrow and central London. White City shopping centre is in heart of Shepherds Bush, Notting Hill is a short distance away.

Heathrow: Only value here is for the airport.Only stay here if you have an early morning flight.

St Johns Wood/Swiss Cottage: Excellent location with Regents Park, Camden Markets, Lords and Hampstead Heath all nearby.

London to LutonEasyBus offers journeys for as little as £2 to/from one way to/from Luton Airport to Liverpool Street & Victoria. Also compare prices for train journey using Thetrainline or National Express bus service as they may be cheaper than Easy Bus. 

London to Heathrow: is cheapest catching the underground tube rather than the Paddington fast train. Use TFL to plan your journey as it maybe just as easy/cheaper to catch a bus depending on your destination.

London City Airport: is located close to the heart of London, it is connected by the DLR (Docklands Light Rail Service) and is cheap to commute into central London.
