La Feria de Abril Seville Fair (Seville, Spain)
Seville hosts the biggest and most colourful festival in Andalucia, with a week of full-blown celebration. Hundreds of striped tents are erected around the city, each filled with flowing conversation, dry sherry, and sevillana (traditional dance).
King's Day (Amsterdam, Netherlands)
Formally Queen's Day, King's Day is Amsterdam's biggest street party of the year, attracting huge crowds of orange to the city. To celebrate, the day is packed full of special events, concerts, street markets, food stalls, and kid's activities.
Walpurgis Day (Helsinki, Finland)
Walpurgis has origins that date back to pagan celebrations of fertility rights and the coming of Spring. Now it a huge event that takes place throughout northern Europe and Scandinavia. In Finland, carnival-style festivities take place, and plenty of alcoholic beverages are consumed, particilarity sima (a home-made type of mead). The following day is typically celebrated with picnics in the park.
