South & West London Sightseeing

Highlights include

Battersea Park (Go Ape, Children's Zoo, Boat lake, Pumphouse Gallery), Chelsea Physic Garden, Saatchi Gallery, National Army Museum, Tate Britain, Imperial War Museum and Mercato Metropolitano

Important Things to Know

  • There is a lot of walking and a lot to do and some of the attractions could be given more time meaning you may need to make a call on what attractions not to do. Not suitable for those not capable of walking long distances.
  • If you want to climb trees than Go Ape will need to be booked in advance.
  • Free Attractions include National Army Museum, Tate Britain, Imperial War Museum, Pump House Gallery. London Pass gets you into Chelsea Physic Garden (£10) and into exhibitions/attraction guide at the National Army Museum (£5). The London Pass does not represent any real value in this day of sightseeing.
  • The boat from Battersea Power Station Pier to Millbank departs every 30 minutes at 20 & 50 minutes past the hour on weekdays and every 30 minutes at 30 past and on the hour on weekends. It takes 10 minutes you will need your Oyster Card.
  • Go Ape usually closes over winter, the Saatchi Gallery can be closed when exhibitions are on. The Pump House Gallery is closed Mondays & Tuesdays and when there is no exhibition. The National Army Museum is closed Sundays and Mondays.

Suggested Timetable

9am arrive Sloane Square have a stroll around and a coffee/breakfast.  10am Saatchi Gallery (check online it is open) 10.45am- 11.00am walk to National Army Museum  11am- 11.45am  National Army Museum 11.45-11.50 walk to Chelsea physic Garden 11.50- 12.30 Chelsea physic Garden 12.30-12.50 walk to go Ape 1pm- 2pm do Go Ape...Enjoy strolling through the park (pump house gallery, childrens zoo, lake)  2.50pm-3pm catch boat Battersea Park Pier Station to Millbank Pier  3pm-3.10pm  walk to Tate Britain  3.10pm-4pm Tate Britain  4pm-4.30pm walk from Tate Britain to Imperial War Museum  4.30-6pm Imperial War Museum  6pm-6.20pm walk to Mercato Metropolitano (Finally relax with a few drinks and some street food)

If you want to catch the bus. The C10 can be taken from Tate Britain Stop L to Lambeth Nth Station. It is then just a 5 minute walk. Expand map to see the journey from Lambeth Nth.

Battersea Park to Imperial War Museum (If skipping Tate Britain)

Catch bus 344 towards Liverpool Street getting off at Imperial War Museum the bus journey takes about 20-25 minutes. You will need to use your Oyster Card.
