Important Things to Know

  • There is a fair bit of public transport travel so you will need an Oyster Card
  • The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities is only open Wednesday to Sunday
  • Dennis Sever's House is only open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
  • Spitalfields Market is open until 5.30pm on weekdays and until 5pm on weekends.
  • The evening you may wish to do a Jack the Ripper Tour.
  • You may want to catch a boat to Canary Wharf. Check the Thames Clippers website for details.

Suggested Timetable

Catch boat to Canary Wharf

10am Museum of London Docklands  11.15am-11.45am catch train to Stratford 11.45-1.30  walk to and around Queen Elizabeth Park 1.30pm-2pm Stratford Station to Bethnal Green 2pm-3pm V & A Childhood Museum 3pm-3.30 Viktor Wynd Childhood Museum (if Wednesday-Sunday) 3.30-4pm walk to Spitalfields Market, have a beer at the Ten Bells a curry at Brick Lane.

**if a Wednesday or Friday you can visit Dennis Severs House between 5pm-9pm. Check website and book in advance.

7pm Jack the Ripper Tour starts from Aldgate East Station exit 4. It usually lasts around 2 hours. 

Finish the night at the Blind Beggar pub where Ronnie Kray killed a rival. Take the train home from Whitechapel.

Money Saving Tips

  • Free Attractions include Museum of London Docklands, V & A Childhood Museum, Spitalfields Market.
  • London Pass really only gets you into the ArcelorMittal Orbit (Adults £12.50), this would not give you value even with a ten day pass which averages out around £18.40 per day.

Canary Wharf Pier to Canary Wharf Station

The Grapes is a wonderful old pub on the Thames dating back to 1583. It opens at 12 you may want to enjoy a pint or some lunch here.
